Past Events

Powell’s City of Books, November 10

Suzanne discussed her debut historical novel, Lost Souls of Leningrad, in conversation with Suzy
Vitello at Powell’s downtown to a large (over 120) and enthusiastic audience. Equal parts World
War II epic, family saga, and love story, this compelling tale is both a testament to human
resilience and a harsh indictment of war and authoritarianism. Suzanne is a longtime Portland
resident who once worked at the Pentagon where she negotiated security issues with the
Soviets.  Click here to read about the event.

Historical Novel Society Conference 2023

Suzanne presented a session titled, World War II Fiction: The Lesser-Trod Corners and
Characters, at the HNS conference in San Antonio, TX in June 2023. She was joined by fellow
author Maryka Biaggio. Click here to read about the conference.
